Club President Terri Rickel rang the bell calling to order the December 7th meeting of the Elkhart Rotary Club.
 
Merritt Dilts opened and led in the pledge and Four Way Test.
 
Aileac Deegan welcomed the guests.
 
Announcements:
 
Peter Norton announced the bar hopping fund raiser for the Salvation Army this Friday evening, December 11th.  Meet at the Salvation Army in Elkhart.
 
Paul Warning gave an update on the bell ringing for the Salvation Army coming up this Saturday, the 12th.
 
Doug Risser gave the foundation minute highlighting the Paul Harris Fellow award.  He said that from December 1st through January 31st the first $50,000 received at the district level will be matched. For more information you can go to the website at www.rotary6540.org.
 
New member, Josh Walker, was inducted.  He was invited by Aileac Deegan.

There will be an election of new board members at the December 21st meeting.  Anyone interested in having their name on the ballot should let Terri Rickel know.
 
There will be a board meeting on Friday, the 11th at Perkins at 7:00 AM.
 
This Saturday, the 12th is bell ringing.  There will be food at Heritage Financial all day.  Stop by before or after your shift.
 
Next Monday, the 14th will be our annual joint meeting with the Kiwanis.
 
Sargeant for the Day was Jeff New who did a good job extracting fines.  Monies raised by the sargeants goes to local charities.
 
 
The featured speaker was Dr. David Benak, Director of the Elkhart Area Career Center. He talked about the 28 programs they have available.  He also explained the Early College Initiative that will allow high school students to earn college credits and graduate from high school with an associates degree.  They are working in conjunction with Ivy Tech and Beacon Health Systems.
