Donations Committee Presents Cash Awards

to Local Non Profit Groups

 

President Chuck Grodnik called to order the February 16th meeting of the Elkhart Rotary Club.  Honorary Member Art Decio was in attendance.  President Grodnik introduced two new Honorary Rotarians: George and Mona Biddlecome.

Mr. Grodnik also announced a change in the time and location of the club's Monthly Third Thursday Gathering.  Beginning this Thursday, February 19th, the gathering will be at 5:05 pm at the Artisan restaurant located at 505 Main Street.

Judge Jim Riechoff inducted new member Greg Schoenfeld who was sponsored by Ann McCuistion. Greg is president of Compass Wealth Advisors which is located at 100 S. Main Street.

Darin Sorg was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow award.

The Sergeant at Arms was Matt Lentsch, Matt made sure all members met their maximum fine amounts.  The money the Sergeant’s committee raises over the year is pooled into a fund and then disbursed annually to area non-profit organizations.  

The following agencies were present to accept a total of $12,000 in donations.

  • ADEC  - for their summer camp
  • Bristol Elementary School – for their Robotics club
  • CAPS – for communications equipment
  • Center for Community Justice – for their Reading for Life Program
  • Church Community Services – for a pallet lifter
  • ETHOS
  • Lifeline Youth Ministries – to replace sports equipment damaged in their fire
  • LoveWay
  • Ryan’s Place – for video equipment to train their volunteers
  • United Cancer Services – to provide on hands help for people with cancer in Elkhart County.
  • Well Field Botanic Gardens – for communication equipment
  • Women’s Care Center of Elkhart County
