Brian Krider, from Ben's Soft Pretzels,
Spoke to the Club

Incoming President Terri Rickel presided over her first meeting of the Elkhart Rotary Club.

The Sergeant at Arms was Jeff Peat who exacted the maximum amount of fines from each member and levied extra fines to Outgoing Club President Judge Chuck Grodnik and Terri Rickel. The money the Sergeant’s committee raises over the year is pooled into a fund and then disbursed annually to area non-profit organizations.

The speaker was Brian Krider of Ben’s Soft Pretzel’s. Started in 2008 in Concord Mall, Ben’s now has over 30 locations. In 2009 they opened locations inside Notre Dame’s Football Stadium where they make 6,000 fresh pretzels on-site each game day. In 2014 Ben’s struck a deal with Wal-Mart to place a store in any available Wal-Mart anywhere in the world.  Franchise opportunities are available, Brian said he expects to have 84 locations open by the end of the year.  Ben’s is the fifth largest pretzel producer in the world with over 600 Team Members employed.
