When I attended the Foundation dinner a few weeks ago, I quite honestly did so because I am a new member in the Elkhart Noon Rotary Club and felt it was my obligation to attend-especially since it was in Elkhart!  I had also heard that the speaker was "pretty good" and that it would be a female presenter.  Beyond that information, I had no idea what to expect even though I have been a Rotary member for about four months.

The meal was outstanding and the Crystal Ballroom is an awesome venue, but the message that Deepa Willingham brought regarding the plight of girls in India was by far the most gritty and meaningful presentation I have ever heard in my professional life.  I was proud that our District brought this woman to present the opportunity for all of us to learn more about the Piyali Girls School and how we can make make a difference in what would otherwise be a very hopeless future wrought with poverty and prostitution.  I also plan to introduce the video to the junior high school girls that I mentor at our church.

Attending he Foundation dinner was indeed my Rotary moment!!
