How to Propose a New Member
- Prospective members should always attend at least two Club meetings as the guest of the Club or as a guest of the existing member.
- If the prospective member is a good fit, have them fill out this online membership application form.
- The Chair of the Membership Committee will confirm receipt of the membership application form and share with the Membership Committee for review.
- Upon approval of the Membership Committee the Candidate's name will be submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration.
- If the candidate is approved for membership by the Board of Directors, the proposer is so notified and the candidate's name is published to the membership.
- If there are no objections reported to the Board of Directors within ten days of the publication of the name of the proposed member, the candidate is considered elected to membership, upon payment of the Initiation Fee.
- During a club meeting the new member is introduced to the membership by the President.
- The new member will be asked to serve at the Fellowship Table for a time and will be given a committee assignment.
- The new member is expected to attend an orientation meeting in order to become acquainted with Rotary International as well as the history, projects and mission of the Elkhart Rotary Club.
- To insure that the new member feels comfortable in the Club, the proposer is expected to mentor the new member for at least three months.
