How to Propose a New Member
  1. Although not required, you will probably want to have the candidate attend at least two Club meetings as the guest of the Club.
  2. Obtain a Membership Application from the Chair of the Membership Committee, you can fill out and SUBMIT the form linked here. If you prefer, you could also enlarge and copy the form shown on the next page. The completed form should be returned to the Chair of the Membership Committee.
  3. Upon approval of the Membership Committee the Candidate's name will be submitted to the Board of Directors.
  4. If the candidate is approved for membership by the Board of Directors, the proposer is so notified and the candidate's name is published to the membership.
  5. If there are no objections reported to the Board of Directors within ten days of the publication of the name of the proposed member, the candidate is considered elected to membership, upon payment of the Initiation Fee.
  6. During a club meeting the new member is introduced to the membership by the President.
  7. The new member will be asked to serve at the Fellowship Table for a time and will be given a committee assignment.
  8. The new member is expected to attend an orientation meeting in order to become acquainted with Rotary International as well as the history, projects and mission of the Elkhart Rotary Club.
  9. To insure that the new member feels comfortable in the Club, the proposer is expected to mentor the new member for at least three months.
