Bryan Blair, General Manager of the Elkhart County Fair,
Speaks to the Club

Doug Grant was visiting from the Lake Wawasee Club.

Lisa Gilkey Schoetzow was celebrating the arrival of a new baby as well as a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.  The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name or the name of family members, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Paul Harris Plus recognitions indicate the member has donated additional One Thousand Dollar amounts.  The award was established in 1957 to show appreciation for and encourage substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships.

The Sergeant at Arms was Matt Pletcher, who recited a plethora of duck riddles which no member answered correctly. The money the Sergeant’s committee raises over the year is pooled into a fund and then disbursed annually to area non-profit organizations.

The speaker was Bryan Blair, the new general manger of the Elkhart County 4H Fair. The fair is one of the largest in the country, comprising of 384 acres and 60 buildings.
