The Elkhart Rotary Club is now accepting grant applications through April 1, 2023

As part of its mission of “Service above Self”, the Elkhart Rotary Club provides an opportunity for financial support for program and services benefiting the Elkhart County community. Requests for grants will be accepted by email until April 1, 2023, and normally range from $500-$1000. However, applications of exceptional merit requesting larger amounts may be considered. Grant requests will be evaluated by the Club's Donations Committee volunteers in the weeks following the deadline and awardees will be notified. Grants will be awarded in person on June 19 at the Club's Monday Meeting.

The funds distributed on an annual basis are raised directly through donations from Elkhart Rotary Club members at weekly meetings. A rotating roster of 'Sergeants' extract fun 'fines' from club members. The process takes about 5 minutes each meeting and is a fun way to learn about fellow club members and their activities in the community, as well as through trivia or celebrating memorable member milestones. The 'fines' are collected each week and comprise the total available funds that Donations Committee volunteers award to requesting organizations.

Criteria the Donations Committee will consider for measuring proposed projects include:
  • Does the project address the greatest needs in Elkhart County?
  • Does the project address youth or youth-oriented needs?
  • Does the project or the proposing organization have a broad community impact?
  • Does the project empower girls and women?
Applicants will be contacted within six weeks of the deadline with a decision. Grant recipients must be in attendance on Monday, June 19 at 12 p.m. to receive a check and provide a brief, 3-minute overview on the project being funded to our club at Matterhorn Conference Center in Elkhart.
