Elkhart Rotary Club Meeting October 15, 2018
Today's Speaker: Jackie Walorski, candidate for congress
Club President Peter Norton opened the weekly meeting of the Elkhart Rotary Club.
 
Two new members were inducted today! Welcome Irwin Larrier, Executive Director for the Center for Community Justice, and Melinda Konrath-Fielding, President/CEO of CAPS-Child and Parent Services
 
 
The Sergeant at Arms was Doug Thorne, "fun" fines are capped at $5.00 per meeting and the money the Sergeant's committee raises over the year is pooled into a fund and then disbursed annually to area non-profit organizations.

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, Jackie gave the club an update of what she has been doing the last year some of those items include:
Reigning in burdensome regulations, Balancing Trade Policies, passing tax cuts for the middle class and small business, voting to rebuild the military, revamp the VA, helping the 75,000 vets in her district get the medical attention they need in the new VA facility in Mishawaka, IN. Jackie told the group Obamacare is not working and she voted to repeal the individual mandate. She worked on a bill to help treat opioid addiction. Lastly, Jackie is helping our farmers cope through the tariff disputes.

All meetings are at noon on Mondays at the Matterhorn Banquet and Conference Center, 2041 Cassopolis St. in Elkhart IN, 46514. In months that include a FIFTH Monday, the Elkhart Rotary Club holds a dinner meeting (no presenter) at the same location.
