Welcome new Honorary Rotarian, Nick Simons.

Nick Simons exemplifies Service Above Self and Peace Through Service. Nick Simons represented Rotary District 6540 as our Ambassadorial Scholar, spending a year in Nepal in 2009. Since then Nick has been involved in various community service programs.

He is living at Jubilee House, the Mennonite Voluntary Service Unit in Elkhart on Prairie St. and helps to manage Rise Up Farms' CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and spends much of his time each week trying to keep their plants alive.

He also works at Chain Reaction Bicycle Project in Goshen and manages the Pedal Power Community Bike Shop in Elkhart. At each shop bicycles are donated and then made available to people in exchange for work or money. Often these bikes are the only means of transportation available to some of the people.

He recently started a sustainable lawn care service called GrassRoots, offering pollution free lawn mowing with a Reel Mower and I haul all my equipment with a bicycle and trailer.

He was featured in an Elkhart Truth article in May and click on the link to view.
