Jackie Walorski, candidate for congress

Jackie Walorski is a native Hoosier, born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. The daughter of a firefighter and small business owner, Jackie learned the value of public service and hard work at a young age. After graduating from Riley High School, she became the first in her family to graduate from college. 

She began her career as a crime reporter and later worked as a development director to raise funds for Indiana colleges and universities. Shortly after marrying her husband Dean, a Mishawaka school teacher, Jackie and Dean moved to Romania as missionaries and founded an agency to help provide food and medical supplies to the country’s impoverished children.

After watching the horrific attacks of September 11th and returning home to Indiana, Jackie decided to serve in a different way. In 2004, Jackie was elected to her first of three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives. She rose quickly to leadership, becoming the Assistant Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus.

In 2012, Jackie was first elected to the United States House of Representatives. Currently, in her second term in Congress, she serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs, and Agriculture committees. She also chairs the House Subcommittee on Nutrition.
