Rotary District 6540 Governor John Frischie visits and presents to our club!

The Elkhart Rotary Club welcomes current District Governor John Frischie!

John Frischie graduated from Purdue University in 1969 and began a 28-year career as an Agriculture Education teacher at South Newton High School. He served as Director of Secondary Education from 1997 until 2003. John was selected as an Administrative Assistant until his retirement in 2005.
 
Frischie enjoyed teaching and was recognized as the Indiana Young Farmer Teacher of the Year, Indiana Agriculture Teacher of the Year, Northern Indiana Junior Achievement Golden Achievement Award, Indiana FFA Honorary Hoosier Farmer, and was selected as a National Milken Education Foundation Educator in 1995. Frischie began a second career as the Project Leader for Team HOPE (History Opens Eyes), a US History Education initiative created by former US Secretary of Education William Bennett and other Milken Educators to develop accurate and cost effective text books and curriculum. John managed the 1200-page web curriculum and provided technical and customer support for the project.
 
Frischie helped form one of the first Community Networks (Midwest Prairienet) in Indiana, served on the Newton County Fair Board (President 1990-1995), South Newton Junior Achievement Board, and is currently serving as President of the Newton County Park Board. He was elected to the Kentland Hall of Fame in 2016. Frischie was awarded the Purdue University Agriculture Alumni Certificate of Distinction in 2018. He enjoys using his mechanical and technology skills to provide vocational service in the Kentland community.
 
John Frischie’s first experience with Rotary came when he was invited to bring FFA members to Rotary meetings when a speaker was not available. The youth demonstrated parliamentary procedure and practiced their speaking and leadership skills at Kentland Rotary meetings. Frischie joined the Kentland Rotary Club in 2006 and served as President in 2010-11, and Treasurer in 2012-13. He has been active on the Public Relations and Membership committees as well. Frischie served as District 6540 Rotary District Assistant Governor (2012-2015), District Assistant Governor Coordinator (2014-2017), District Trainer (2016-2018). In 2015, he received the Rotary International Vocational Service Award. He is a Paul Harris Fellow +8 and a member of the Paul Harris Society.
 
John and his wife Sue were married in 1970 and are blessed with two daughters and two grandchildren.
